Nan Here with the Tenth Day of Halloween!

EEEKKK!  Can you feel the excitement?  The smell of cauldrons bubbling and the sounds of the witches cackles?  Oh, how I love this time of year!  Today I have a little make for you to add to your holiday cheer :)

First, is it Halloween without Alfred Hitchcock?  I had this totally awesome postcard given to me and reluctantly due to my situation at home with my mom's health, used it to show off some of Lost Coast Designs great images!  I used "A Murder of Crows" (love the name and the stamps; it is a set) and the "Crows Border" such a neat stamp to use over and over again! just to dress him up a bit!  After all, he helped start all this wonderfulness so he deserves his day to shine!

He even got some golden ribbon to match those golden statues he MUST have!

Remember our events going on!  Our monthly  Lost Coast Portal to Creativity challenge is "Strange or Weird" what an appropriate theme for this month and so easy!  And the Portal has all of our new stamps on view and ALL the info on ways to win super prizes (there are 2 up for this month!) so get a chance to go shopping at stamp heaven!

Happy 31 Days of Halloween!

Imagination is Boundless

Hello everyone!  Marilyn here (yep, I baaaaccckkk!) to share with you a masculine greeting card.

I stamped Thick and Thin Men onto a piece of watercolor paper I had gesso'd black with Versamark ink and thin embossed the image with different colors of embossing powder.  I cut the image out using a Sizzix die and then mounted it on top of a piece of scrapbook paper.  I ran a piece of twine through a Tim Holz word band and then around to the back of the paper, securing with tape.  I then mounted that onto a piece of colored cardstock.

That's it for me for today!  Stay tuned for more great projects.

Until later.............................
Smiles~

Catrina....

Hello there fellow crafters ! Darlene here and today I am going to share how I put my Catrina together.

Started with a regular skeleton ...used cotton balls to put under the halter top. The halter top I stamped the Skull crown onto it with black ink.  Then glued some fake hair onto the skull and decorated with some ribbon flowers and some lace for the veil.

The skirt I shredded the material a bit and stamped with the Raven with Tree Branches and the Crows border.  (also in black)

Both the halter top and the skirt were tied in behind.  Over top of the stamped skirt I added some old sheer curtain material - so give the stamped skirt a bit of a muted look.  Added a black ribbon to tie around the waist to pull it all in.

Added a flower onto the halter and her wrist for a bit more colour....and done .....

Are you enjoying the 31 days of Halloween at Lost Coast !!!  My goodness the talent out there is AMAZING !!!!

Thanks for visiting and Happy Haunting ....

"7 Gates to Purgatory" Candle Holder

Hiya Lost Coasters!
Leigh here today...it's my turn to share some Halloween goodness!
Our Lost Coast Portal to Creativity blog is participating as a Wicked Blogger again in the annual 31 Days of Halloween blog hop this month!  It's not too late to hop on over and join in the fun, there's lots to do and see all month long plus we are giving away TWO PRIZES in our October Challenge - SCARY or WEIRD, the Challenge started earlier than normal on Oct 1st and closes later on Oct 31st!  The Challenge Linky is at the bottom of the Day 1 of 31 DOH post!

love the glow of a flameless tealight candle!
Today I'd like to tell you a bit more about my Day 1 of 31 Days of Halloween project.  It's an altered container I turned into a candle holder and features one of our NEW STAMPS unveiled this month, the wicked cool coffin skellie called RIP!

Our New Stamps are to die for!
I found the unfinished wooden container in Target's craft aisle and it truly was a match made in Heaven Hell....the geometric sides of the container are actually coffin shaped and it has seven sides so I could not resist doing a Seven Deadly Sins theme.

Here it is in all it's colourful crackled glory with skull beads for feet
I started out by staining the wooden container with Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress Stain and while it dried I stamped the RIP stamp seven times onto white cardstock in Onyx Black Versafine Ink.  I coloured each coffin by randomly applying Rusty Hinge, Tea Dye and Fired Brick Distress Inks with foam ink applicators.  I then cut them all out, adhered them to the container with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive and covered the entire piece with Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.

Seven Deadly Sins:  Envy, Gluttony and Lust
While the crackle paint dried I created the "Seven Deadly Sins" text in Photoshop CS6 and printed them out on printer paper.  I fussy cut out each word, coloured the background with black Copic marker and the words themselves with a metallic gold gel pen.  Each word was then adhered to the candle holder.

Seven Deadly Sins:  Wrath, Sloth, Greed and Pride
The finishing touch was to give my candle holder the wicked cool skellie feet.  They're skull beads from a Halloween decoration and I just adhered them to the base with hot glue.  I prefer the glow of a flameless tealight candle but this is what it looks like with a pillar candle too.

the flame of the candle represents the Cleansing Fire of Purification
Thanks for stopping by to see my project!
Have a spooktacular week and as always...Happy Stamping!

Who Says Poe's Raven Was A "He"? (Besides Poe?)

Gothic Greetings, Lost Coasters!

Are you in the Halloween spirit yet? Well, you will be when you take part in the Lost Coast Designs Portal to Creativity spooky stamped art contest! Enter YOUR Halloween-themed art that uses rubber stamping (any company) for a chance to win one of TWO gift certificates to spend at the Lost Coast Designs store! See here for details.

As you are no doubt aware (clever reader as you are!), Lost Coast Designs is also participating in the 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop, for which I am contributing a few projects. This one right here...

...is my own take on Poe's famous poem "The Raven" (visit my blog to read the full text of this sad and spooky Gothic classic!).

Now, Poe tells us that his raven was a boy. "PAH!" I say! Balderdash, even! Who needs your sexist raven-tropes around here? Not I! My raven is a WOMAN, do you hear? And not any slinky hot sexy young chick (<--see what I did there?) either. Mine is a GRANNY RAVEN and she has zero darns to give if you are shocked by this!!

I made this card by collaging the image of Lost Coast Designs' fabulous Old Lady Raven (that's what I'm calling her) from the Big Anthropomorph Birds set onto a background that I printed on my (beloved) Gelli plate. There's a bit of washi at the bottom and a hand-drawn spiderweb (with artist's pen and glitter gel pen) on the card too...and a single word, lovingly rendered in Bodoni for that Poe-period feel.

I hope my little piece gets you in the spooky spirit, and that you enter lots of art in the contest. We want you to win some of these fabulous Lost Coast Designs images!

Love and monsters,
