love the glow of a flameless tealight candle! |
Today I'd like to tell you a bit more about my
Day 1 of 31 Days of Halloween project. It's an altered container I turned into a candle holder and features one of our
NEW STAMPS unveiled this month, the wicked cool coffin
skellie called
RIP!
I found the unfinished wooden container in Target's craft aisle and it truly was a match made in Heaven Hell....the geometric sides of the container are actually coffin shaped and it
has seven sides so I could not resist doing a Seven Deadly Sins theme.
|
Here it is in all it's colourful crackled glory with skull beads for feet |
I started out by staining the wooden container with Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress Stain and while it dried I stamped the RIP stamp seven times onto white cardstock in Onyx Black Versafine Ink. I coloured each coffin by randomly applying Rusty Hinge, Tea Dye and Fired Brick Distress Inks with foam ink applicators. I then cut them all out, adhered them to the container with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive and covered the entire piece with Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.
|
Seven Deadly Sins: Envy, Gluttony and Lust |
While the crackle paint dried I created the "Seven Deadly Sins" text in Photoshop CS6 and printed them out on printer paper. I fussy cut out each word, coloured the background with black Copic marker and the words themselves with a metallic gold gel
pen. Each word was then adhered to the candle holder.
|
Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath, Sloth, Greed and Pride |
The finishing touch was to give my candle holder the wicked cool skellie feet. They're skull beads from a Halloween decoration and I just adhered them to the base with hot glue. I prefer the glow of a flameless tealight candle but this is what it looks like with a pillar candle too.
|
the flame of the candle represents the Cleansing Fire of Purification |
Thanks for stopping by to see my project!
Have a spooktacular week and as always...Happy Stamping!
